In another boost for corporate blogs, Six Apart has announced the release of a new product designed specifically for the publishing needs of the enterprise. Its Movable Type Enterprise takes the foundation of the popular Movable Type platform and optimizes it for use within organizations by offering customized features and technical support required by the unique demands of today’s in-house web applications.
Six Apart has been at the forefront of the blogosphere for years with its Movable Type platform, hosted TypePad solution, and LiveJournal community. Now, the company is bringing its years of experience to you for internal publishing and management needs.
The company is positioning the new Movable Type Enterprise product as not just a repackaging of Movable Type but an application designed and optimized with the capabilities one would expect from an enterprise wide application. At a glance the new capabilities include:
Six Apart is offering summer discount pricing, with Movable Type Enterprise licenses starting at just under $4,000. Support agreements are priced at about $2,000 per year. Support includes all software updates and upgrades and two-hour response time for technical support issues.
Other companies competing in the enterprise blogging solution space include iUpload and Near-Time, which provide blogging, collaboration, and wiki integrated solutions.
Nice overview of some of the enterprise solutions out there. Always great to read an engaging blog like this, and I think you hit the nail on the head in stating that Near-Time is a pure-play collaboration tool.
