Plans to formulate a strategic plan
Jul 24th, 2006 | By Tom Johnson | Category: PlanningI want to let you know that plans are underway to formulate a strategic plan for the chapter. Martha Collins and Joan Baptist are undertaking this task. Additionally, William Wiese is coming to our area in either September or October and wants to meet with all the senior members.
William wrote me an email explaining what he hopes to accomplish:
An assigned committee of STC is holding a series of focus groups as part of a ‘search for the future’ of technical communication. Through this search, STC members are collaboratively defining the future of our profession. The focus groups will be highly interactive explorations of the following question: What will technical communication practice be like in the future? The data gathered through these and other similar sessions will be shared with members through STC publications, and will become part of the basis for the development of STC’s next strategic plan.
The chapter’s strategic plan and the international society’s strategic plan are different plans, but one would hope they might share some similarities.
