New Look for the Site

I couldn’t resist changing the chapter’s site design to one with a little Ajax functionality. There are a couple of features you’ll find interesting. First is the Ajax shelf. Click the Open/Close Shelf link in the upper-right area of the screen. The shelf slides out — there you can peruse the various pages that are available on the site. Anything that is a page resides there. In contrast, anything that is a post resides in the sidebar. Pages are static; posts are more dynamic.

The new site also has a live search feature. Apparently it only works in IE, so if you’re a Firefox user, hold your breath and swith to IE just for a minute to test it out. Then switch back. Basically live search shows your search results without refreshing the page.

What else? I upgraded the site to Wordpress 2.1, which has a host of new features. I explained them on my own blog, which is where that previous link takes you.

I’m still adjusting a few things on the site, but feel free to submit your feedback using the comment feature or by directly emailing me. If you have links, info, or other resources that should go on the site, let me know.

  1. It’s ‘Click on Open/Close Shelf’ not View Pages.

  2. Thanks — sorry about that. “View Pages” didn’t stand out enough so I changed it.
