October Chapter Meeting: Defense Contracting with Lives in the Balance
Sep 19th, 2007 | By Clyde Parson | Category: MeetingsFor our October 4 meeting, Geoffrey Moreland of Gyrocam Systems will discuss the development of training materials and technical manuals for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who are assigned to route clearance duties, using Gyrocam’s mast-mounted camera system, used for IED detection and surveillance. Gyrocam’s platform is comprised of a pneumatic mast, a gyrostabilized camera system, and BAE Systems’ RG33 armored vehicle. Over 200 gyrostabilized camera systems are currently fielded in Iraq and Afghanistan in the hunt for IEDs, which have proven to save lives by allowing soldiers to complete their missions of detecting and locating roadside IEDs from the safety of their armored vehicle.

Geoffrey Moreland has been a professional technical writer for the last 21 years, and has completed groundbreaking work for companies such as Diebold Inc, Rockwell Automation, Ingersoll-Rand, Electronic Data Systems, Kraft Foods, U.S. Army, and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Geoffrey also has extensive training and performance experience.
